As you approach the City of Mysore from Bangalore, DO NOT enter Mysore city. Look for the New Outer Ring Road and take a right turn from the main highway. This Ring Road connects you to various exits from Mysore. You need to stay on this Ring Road for exactly 20 Kms and then take an exit to your right leading to a village called
HD Kote. Look for detailed signboards for various exits throughout the Ring Road.
HD Kote is about 45 Kms from this exit. There is one Gas station on this Ring Road. The next one is at HD Kote. In case you had to enter Mysore City, then please ask the traffic policemen to give you directions to the exit leading to HD Kote (the other names for finding the exit are: Road to
HD Kote or road to Mananthavadi, or road to Jungle Lodges Karapura)
Once you are on the road leading to HD Kote, stay on the road and keep going straight and you will cross a small village called Jayapura. Jayapura has a small police station. Continue straight on this road to a slightly larger village called Hampapura. Please reduce your speed to below 20 KMPH when you cross these villages and watch out for children playing on these roads. You will soon be driving through some picturesque tank bunds.
After about 45 Kms from the exit, you will reach H D Kote "Hand-post" in the middle of intersection of two roads. Before you reach the hand post, you will see a Gas Station on the left hand side. Please note, this is your last stop for gas on the way to the resort and you might wish to top-up your fuel levels here. Proceed straight at the hand-post round-about. DO NOT turn left or right.
After a few kilometers you will see the ‘Kabini Dam’ signboard. This is a tricky turn. DO NOT take the left turn as that will lead you to the Kabini Dam. You have to take the curved right turn. Very soon you will reach a village called Antarasante. Cross the village and keep driving. Just after the village, you will cross a very small police check-post. Cross the check-post and continue and you will spot the Rajiv Gandhi National Park signboard.
You will come across a very small forest
check-post on the road. This check-post is always closed. Here, the road goes straight and there is also a road to the left. Ignore the road to the left and ask the forest guard to open the barricade. This is a state highway and we all have right of way. After you cross the barricade, stay on the road and keep driving. Once you enter this road, you will find thick forest on both sides of the road. Please do not honk and cut your speed down to about 20 KMPH. Do not stop your vehicle and do not alight. If you see any animals on the road slow down immediately and allow them to cross. If you see a lone Elephant or a herd on the road, do not panic. Keep a safe distance and wait for them to clear the road. As long as safe distances are maintained, they will move away and let you pass. Once they clear the road, continue driving.
After about 9 Kms from the check-post, you will find a perpendicular left turn. At this point, you will also find a few other signboards on the main road. At this junction, take the left and continue towards Cicada, now just 6 Kms away. Just for you to be doubly sure, our resort is located adjacent to another resort called "Jungle Lodges and Resorts Ltd". Take a left turn in front of Jungle Lodges. Our resort is located in a village called Karapura. See you there!
