about cicada resorts |
|
Cicada Resorts is a
responsible ecotourism
organization with the aim of introducing
the quintessential city-dweller to the wild.
We operate a chain of luxurious private forest resorts
in some of the most popular wildlife reserves of India.
Our name, Cicada means 'tree cricket' in Latin.
It probably comes from the Greek word for 'magic'.
It certainly seems magical, if not miraculous,
that these creatures emerge from the ground
as flightless nymphs and metamorphose
into winged beings. |
 |
Any tropical forest
is incomplete without the song
of the Cicada. Incessant but beautiful, the Cicada's
voice symbolizes the very essence of the forest. |
 |
An essence we strive
to preserve. One of our key objectives is to reduce man's dependence
on our planet's rapidly dwindling forests. We try to fulfil
this
by engaging in a variety of activities that help man
co-exist with nature, such as employing local talent, buying
village produce, assisting in the sale of village handicraft
and keeping a close eye on our forests
and helping the Forest Department safeguard it. |
 |
As part of our ecotourism initiatives, we actively
support the Kabini Foundation, a local body dedicated
to the cause of conservation. In addition, we're
a member of the Washington-based TIES
(The International Ecotourism Society), named by
The Wall Street Journal as the pre-eminent ecotourism organisation
in the world. This gives us access to
the latest norms and standards in ecotourism that
we implement and adhere to in all our properties. |
